This tutorial is for blogs with Woo Themes only. Most of our homepage blogs are built with Woo Themes.
Usually, when you upload a document to your website for users to download you just add it as a link. However, it's easy to create a download box to provide a visual focus and a call to action. The end result will look something like this:
Upload your document to the media library of the blog by clicking Media > Add New
Once the upload is complete click on the item in the media library to edit and and highlight and copy the URL of the document.
Note: it is good practice to only upload documents in a format that can be easily read by end users on any device, e.g. in pdf format. You should not use this method to upload video, PowerPoints or Publisher documents etc.
In the page or blog post that you want to put the download box type the following shortcode into the visual editor (not the text editor):
[box type="download" style="rounded"]Name of doc[/box]
Note: The red text must be replaced by the name of the label that you wish to appear on the download box (see example illustration above).
Now highlight the complete shortcode and the click on the link icon on the editor toolbar.
Finally, in the open dialogue box box, paste the URL of the document and tick the "Open link in new tab" box. Now save the link and your page/post is ready to be published.
Note: You can add as many download boxes as you need on a single post or page.
